Dress of the week

Jandell's ready-to smock
We're starting a new feature today!  Each week we'll show you a new inspiring garment to make. Some will be smocked, some not. Sometimes a dress, sometimes a boy's outfit, sometimes an adult garment.

This week our featured dress is the bishop.  Both of these dresses are ready-to-smocks, which means that we've done the sewing, and you get to do the smocking.  If you'd like to make your own bishop, we use the Ultimate Bishop Dress pattern by Ellen McCarn.  Come see us and we can help you get started.

Jandell made the sweet angel sleeve bishop pictured above with the Little Apples fabric by Aneela Hoey for Moda.
This dress is a size three, but you can order any size as long as the fabric lasts!

Tea Towel Bishop and Linen Bibs
I made this size 12-month ready-to-smock out of the beautiful hemstitched linen towels that we carry.  The original directions for this dress were published in the beloved Creative Needle Magazine.  You can come to a class to learn to make this dress or let us make one for you.  We also carry the Battenburg hangers, embroidered linen bibs and burp cloths shown.  These make great baby gifts!

I hope you'll enjoy this feature each week.  If you'd like more smocking inspiration, click here to view the Smocking and Clothing Set located in the right-hand column on our Flickr page.

Happy stitching!!
